(split squad)

In an exciting play, Gwen McNally of the Spotted Snakes fielded a ball at shortstop and tagged out Moneyballers' Allison Marten at third.  Allison retaliated with a strong double and RBI.  Both Quinn Edlin and Allison Hersh of the Moneyballers made nice fielding plays for outs at second.  Lefty Madeline Shean of the Spotted Snakes came to the rescue when she knocked a hit through the pitcher's knees and landed a double, bringing in  two runs.  With the bases loaded, Keira Mason smacked a solid base hit  that drove home a run.  Wrapping up the game and the season, Daisy Paige of the Spotted Snakes hit a line drive down the third base line for two RBIs, and was overheard saying "That was awesome!"

Jane Hammond Events Spotted Snakes vs. The Andronico's Flying Raccoons (split squad)

Flying Racoons' Jillian Munyon made a nice play tagging out a player out at home, Georgia Tomasik made an impressive stop of a fly ball, tand later hit her own fly ball for a run.  Skye Frank, Lucy Thompson and Blaze Goldstein all scored runs while advancing  others around the bases!

The Moneyballer Red Rubies vs. The Andronico's Flying Raccoons (split squad)

The Moneyballer Red Rubies displayed an impressive offense.  Zo Pancost and Solia Valentine led the charge with two fliy balls, but all four players made solid contact and neded to use the tee in only one of twelve at-bats..  Zo also was very busy in the field, recording an unassisted put-out and just missing two more.  Raina Sparks contributed some daring baserunning.  The Flying Racoons batting was out of this world!  Sidney Harris, Esme Segall, Jazmin Terry, Delilah Whitaker, and Jayna Frank all hit grounders, getting runs and advancing their teammates.  Roxanna Watts-Zaga did some fine fielding, scooping up several ground balls.

YOUNGER DIVISION

Autumn Press Whippersnappers 14, Berkeley Orthodontics Might Molars 14

The Snappers jumped to a seven run lead in the first inning, powered by hits from Hanna Lane-Goldstein, Silvana Montoya, Gretta Kirkby and Georgia Thompsen.  Up next, the Molars chewed through the batting order knocking in five runs on hitting by Zadie Jivan, Carly Wright and Ellie Dischinger.  Good defense by pitcher Cammie Grant and catcher Tara Steckler prevented more runs.  Jackie Beatty  helped the Snappers score five more, but the Molars' Sara Wizig at shortstop and Taylor Kempf made two force outs at third.  The Molars followed with solid hitting by Eliana Rosen-Bloom, Sonya Love, Avery Rasband, Melina Fike, and Amari Coffey.  Snappers second baseman Georgia and pitcher Anna Reed each connected with Silvana at first base for outs.  The Snappers’ Annie Davenport, Uma Navarro and Gemma Fa-Kaji showed off fast running with infield singles, and Anna blasted a single to left.  For the Molars, Carly made two single-handed outs at first, and Ellie belted a double into a cavity between left and center.

MIDDLE DIVISION

On The Beam Orange Crush 2, Robinson McNally Dynamite 3

Orange Crush player Lucy Rosenthal made three nice plays at shortstop, including catching a hard line drive in the first to save at least one run.  Graham Griffin, Avery Evans and Cecilia Rubens each had two hits and RBIs, while Graham also struck out three batters in two innings.  Alison Radkey made nice plays at first base and singled to start a rally in the last inning, but it was not enough to catch the Dynamite.  Dynamite pitchers, Quinn Lewis, Miya Keilin, Maite Ibanez de Garayo, and Tatiana Jellinek all made some very strong throws.  Batting standouts were Molly Sazer-Hopf, Quinn, Miya and Maite.  Isabel Lavrov was especially effective in the outfield with many strong catches, as was Rachel Cohen. A great game was played by all.   Congratulations players!

North Berkeley Investments Grass Stains 10, Robinson McNally Dynamite 6

In the first inning, Grass Stains' Sofia Campos-Seligman and Zoey Horowitz singled, and Jasmine Assia had a strong at-bat.  In the bottom of the inning Nina Moore scooped up two grounders to hold runners from scoring. Berkeley Children's Dentistry Purple Polka Dotted Piranhas 2, Albany Physical Therapy Jackrabbits 2

After the Piranhas' defense, led by pitcher Lily Weiner-Mock, held the Jackrabbits scoreless, the Piranhas jumped ahead in the first when Hana Minsky smashed a single to knock home Alexis Ballman.  This slim lead held up through the middle innings as the Piranhas' Rebecca Miller and Julia Greensfelder stifled Jackrabbits' rallies with sparkling defensive plays. Lila Simpson scored another run for the Piranhas in the 3rd inning after singling and stealing third base.  Undeterred, the Jackrabbits scored twice in their last at bat while their strong pitching shut down the Piranhas, who nonetheless eked out a 2 to 2 win (just kidding!!).
