In a split-squad game, The Moneyballer Red Rubies played the Jane Hammond Events Spotted Snakes. Jennifer Lee led off with a line drive up the middle for the Red Rubies' first score. In the third inning, Pitcher Dixie Lewis knocked down a screaming line drive by the Spotted Snakes' Kira , then threw to first. A reaching catch by Zo Pancoast put the runner out. Quinn Edlin tagged a runner out at third with a heads up play that ended the inning. Jane Hammond's Eliza Bazakas'
well- struck single sailed through the pitchers knees for one RBI. In
the other game, the Moneyballer Red Rubies played the Andronico's
Flying Racoons. Racoons batters showed good form, hitting most of their
balls up the middle and keeping Rubies pitchers Sophie Rodriguez-Bell and Emma Goularte busy. Emma responded by grabbing a line drive for one out and almost completing a double play by running to first. Jazmin Terry had the big hit for the Racoons, lining the ball over the first baseman.

Title Nine's Batter-Up Butterflies 15, Berkeley Orthodontics' Mighty Molars 7
The Molars hosted the Butterflies under perfect conditions at
Codornices Field. The Butterflies loaded the bases in the top of the
first with clean-up hitter Anne Mugler knocking a single to center field to drive in the first of seven runs. Molars' first baseman Sonya Love
slowed their progress with perfect fielding of a grounder for an out.
The Molars answered with seven runs of their own leading with Amari Coffey who slugged a double to center field. Later second baseman JaSeena Duckworth fielded a fast grounder and connected with Delaney Whitaker for an out at first. The second inning was a defensive battle. Molars' third baseman Carly Wright
flawlessly snagged a grounder and made the force at third to hold the
Butterflies to two runs. The Butterflies kept the Molars scoreless
despite singles by Zadie Jivan, Sara Wizig and Heather Fielden. In the third inning the Butterflies' Shelby McDonald knocked one down the first base line for a single, and then Glenna Harris drove in the first of their six third inning runs. The Butterflies then prevented the Molars from scoring in the third.

Arkin-Tilt Phantoms vs.Impact Fund Atomic Sweeties (no score reported)
The season's opener for the Phantoms and Atomic Sweeties, at Cordinices
Field, allowed the players and fans to witness, first hand, the
importance of the defensive as well as the offensive games. After one
and a half scoreless innings, featuring strike-outs thrown by both
starting pitchers - Maria Barkhurst for the Atomic Sweeties and Derby
Gill for the Phantoms - Raleigh Williams drove in the first run at the
bottom of the 2nd for the Phantoms with an extra-base hit to center
field. The Atomic Sweeties came on strong in the top of the third
inning, with a lead-off single by Angie Fike, followed by a single from
by Kyra Kawamoto. Phantoms pitcher Erin Cain, in a strong showing,
stopped the Sweeties' rally with three strike-outs. In the bottom of
the third inning, the Phantoms found their offensive game, with five
consecutive singles by Erin, Mia Rabin, Sarah Isen, Naomi Tong, and
Faith Noonan. Phantoms' shortstop Lily Dawson reacted with some fine
defensive plays, including the clean fielding of a high-bouncing top
spinner, preventing base runners from advancing further, as did catcher
Raleigh with a tag at home plate. The Atomic Sweeties held the Phantoms
to a scoreless inning in the 4th, and after having closed the gap in
the previous inning, found their offensive game. Derby provided the
extra-base hit to drive in Naomi.

On the Beam Orange Crush 4, Albany Physical Therapy Jackrabbits 2
Hannah Murray led off the Jackrabbits with a hit in the first, but was
left on third base. Jackrabbits pitcher Rachel Ng fielded a grounder
and threw to Isobel Woodfin at first for one out, and Skye Salas hauled
in a pop fly to second for the second out. In the bottom of the second,
Maeve Gallagher scored the first Jackrabbits' run after singling,
advancing to third on a hit by Briahna Jackson, and scoring on a drive
down the third base line by Isobel. Orange Crush Cecilia Rubens helped
stop a big inning with a great catch on a hard line drive to first
base. Crush pitcher Graham Griffin also did her part by striking out
four batters in the first two innings. Orange Crush took the lead in
the top of the third inning with five consecutive singles, including
clutch RBIs by Sydney Handler-Vosen, Bailey Kobelin, and Cecilia, who
also ran the bases aggressively. Finally, Madeline Lawrence fielded
well at shortstop and, with the Jackrabbits threatening to come back,
struck out the last batter with the tying run at second base.

Robinson McNally Dynamite 4, Albany Physical Therapy Jackrabbits 0
In the top of the first inning, Dynamite's Aida Baron landed the first
hit of the game with a double, and later stole third. Miya Keilin
pitched well in the bottom of the inning, striking out one player. In
the top of the second inning, Molly Sazer-Hopf hit a double, stole
third, and scored as Natalie Wright landed one of her two hits. In the
bottom of the second the Jackrabbits Maeve Gallagher doubled past
shortstop and stole third. At the top of inning three, the score was 1
to 0. Then, Tatiana Jellinek drove in Miya with a big hit. As this
exciting inning continued Maite Ibanez de Garayo hit a double and
brought Tatiana and Aida and home. Jackrabbits Briahna Jackson had a
big hit to right field in the bottom of the third, and went to third on
a hit by Dylan Kurzer-Ogul. Their rally was slowed down when Isobel
Woodfin's line drive to third base was caught on a fine play by
Dynamite's Quinn Lewis. In the bottom of the fourth Jackrabbits' Skye
Salas had a fine triple to right field.

Berkeley Children's Dentistry (BCD) "Purple (Polka Dotted) Piranhas" 1, North Berkeley Investments (NBI) "Grass Stains" 1
This hard fought game turned out to be a see-saw battle of defensive
titans. Piranhas' pitching ace Robyn Wampler set the game's tone by
striking out the side in the top of the first inning. The Piranhas then
let loose with a barrage of hard hit singles by lead-off hitter Lily
Weiner-Mock, Dylan Seidler and Julia Greensfelder who knocked in the
game's first run. The Grass Stains' defense then stiffened when Raquel
Vergara-Garrison scooped up a hard grounder at short and center fielder
Nina Moore stopped a long grounder from going for an extra base hit.
The game proceeded to be a scoreless duel dominated by stalwart defense
and clutch pitching, despite a single by the Grass Stains' Kaili Meier,
Tayah Blanck's smash double, and the Piranhas' solid single by Rebecca
Miller. Finally, in their last at bat, the Grass Stains broke through
for a dramatic tying run when Zoey Horowitz singled, stole third and
scored. Their pitcher Grace Rusin held the Piranhas scoreless to end
the game for a one-to-one tie.

Zonta Ghostbusters 10, San Marco Bruisers 6 The
Ghostbusters' good hitting and base running led to four runs in the top
of the first. In the second, Ghostbusters' Anna Cheyette singled to
left for an RBI, one of 4 runs scored that inning as well. Pitcher
Sydnie Hersh struck out the side to complete the inning. In the third,
Ghostbusters' Claire Simpson hit a long fly caught by Bruisers' right
fielder, Julia Sparer. Bruisers pitcher Faith Valdez pitched three
strong innings, limiting the Ghostbusters to two runs the rest of the
way. In the bottom of the third, San Marco's offense came alive bases
getting four runs of their own to narrow the Ghostbuster lead. Julia
lined a single to right, and eventually both Maggie Gallagher and Roma
Nawy stole home. Defensively, catcher Hannah Herman made the throw to
Sierra Lee to pick off a runner trying to steal third. Hannah then had
a nice hit to center, and Sydnie got another RBI. Bruisers catcher
Maggie threw out a runner attempting to steal second, with Roma
applying the tag. In the bottom half, Imani Hiller-Bateau reached base
on a dropped third strike and came around to score the Bruisers final
run on a Sparer base hit.
