Micro Division Andronico Purple Platypus vs. Autumn Press Pink Pirates On this sunny Saturday morning at Cordonices Park, the Blue Bunny Sox home team played the Purple Platypus away team. For the Blue Bunny Sox, defense was their strength. In the first inning, Bella Nathan had two close plays at the plate and Jamie Takakuwa made the play at 3rd base for an out. In the 2nd inning, Jamie again made a great play at second for the out and Zoe Exter made the second out of the inning in a close play at home plate. On offense, Ella Troutman & Anna Diehl were the sluggers in the 2nd inning, with lefty Ella hitting a grounder up the right side and Anna banging a hard line drive up the middle. Dolphins, Rockin Robins Prins Chiropractic The sun was shining. No rain. Blue sky. A perfect day for a softball game. The First Inning, the Dolphins were up, they scored four runs. Kaili was pitching. Four runs, Oh no! Would the Rockin’ Robins be able to catch up? Bottom of the first, The Rockin’ Robins were up at bat. Glenna was first to bat, but struck out. Second up was Raquel (or “Rocky,” as everyone calls her) she made a base hit. Third up was Tara, who unfortunately was hit by a ball, but fortunately, everybody advanced to the next base. Fourth up was Lena, who made a base hit. Rocky stole third, SAFE! Yelled the Umpire. Rocky made it to home base, then Tara, then Lena, and then Natalie! Second Inning, Dolphins were up at bat, but no runs were made! We’re up. Glenna hit the ball, but someone caught the ball. Rocky makes a base hit again! Tara makes a hit! Lena struck out, but Natalie makes a base hit! Rocky makes it to home plate again. Then Tara and Natalie made it too! Third Inning no runs. The game ended. Imani Hiller-Bateau pitched four impressive innings for the Boss. Talia Rossi started off the scoring by stealing home after reaching second on a double. The Boss scoring was capped by Amanda Klopp’s RBI single in the fifth. Defensive standout plays included catcher Rosa Rossi-Goldthorpe’s play at the plate in the first to squelch a Boom scoring drive, and Roma Nawy’s impressive nab at first of a Boom scorcher in the fifth. The Boom showed their own defensive prowess with Alejandra Saavedra’s unassisted double play in the second.
