Spotted Snakes' Lucy Ihnken also knocked in two with a home run. On the Moneyballer side, Dixie Lewis hit a home run for two RBI's. YOUNGER DIVISION Berkeley Orthodontics Mighty Molars 18, Autumn Press Whippersnappers 12 The Whippersnappers took a six run lead in the top of the first inning with hits by Hannah Lane-Goldstein and Georgia Thomsen. The Mighty Molars bit back with seven runs in the bottom of the inning with hits by Zadie Jivan, Taylor Kempf, and Gillian Monahan-Miller. In the top of the second, the Snappers' Annie Davenport, Tara Steckler, and Gretta Kirkby had big hits. Defensively, the Molars' Avery Rasband and Heather Fielden made nice plays. The Molar's managed to score five in the bottom of the second with hits by Melina Fike, Eliana Rosen-Bloom, Mia Loretto, and Sonya Love. In the top of the third, the Snappers' Jackie Beatty, Uma Navarro, and Anna Reed
all got infield hits. Defensively, Zadie made two singled-handed outs
at first base by fielding grounders and beating the runners to the
bag. In the bottom of the third the Molars added six runs, despite

No. Berkeley Investment Partners Grass Stains 1, On The Beam Orange Crush 1 In a lazy afternoon defensive game, there was no scoring through three innings. The Grass Stains. Amanda Klopp pitched two strong innings and had a stand up double, while Yasmine Alston made an unassisted out at first base. Orange Crush.s Sydney Handler-Vosen made a nice put-out at first. In the top of the fourth, the Grass Stains. Jasmine Assia smashed a single and stole third after Sofia Campos-Seligman moved her to second on a sacrifice. Tayah Blanck hit a single, driving in the first run of the game. In the bottom of the fourth, Maddie Valdez started things off for Orange Crush with a strong single. Shira Baskind, who earlier hit a double and made two nice plays in the field, hit a hard single up the middle, moving Valdez to third. Then Bailey Kobelin hit a clutch infield single to score the tying run. With two strikes and two outs and the winning run on third, Eliza Murley hit
a hard line drive that looked certain to win the game, but rightfielder
Blanck made a great catch and threw Murley out at first, ending the
game with a tie.
Robinson McNally Dynamite 8, Impact Fund Atomic Sweeties 4
The sun was warm when Dynamite took the field against Atomic Sweeties, but the real heat was in Dynamite pitcher Miya Keilin's fastball. Keilin took to the rubber in the bottom of the first with a three run lead, after Maite Ibanez de Garayo doubled to drive in a run, followed by two more single s and a double. In two innings of work, Keilin struck out four, and did not allow a Sweetie past first base. She was aided by sharp fielding, with Isabel Lavrov catching a great out at third base, and Aida Baron showing her great arm throwing to first baseperson Rachael Cohen for an out. The Atomic Sweeties showed good defensive skills as well, with second baseperson Matilda Stoddart-Cone covering first for an on-target throw from first baseperson Lila Reneke. But five straight Dynamite hits in the third produced five more runs to put the game out of reach. Maria Barkhurst scored for Atomic Sweeties with some audacious baserunning in the third, and the Sweeties scored three more in the fourth, led by hits from Claire Kaneko and Kyra Kawamoto. OLDER DIVISION Zonta Ghostbusters 13, Oakland Dynamite 10 Lena Mayer (playing for Zonta from Friedman Brueggemeyer) helped start things off with a big hit, followed by four Zonta sluggers and Megan Foley (also from FRB) accounting for four runs in the top of the first. Strong pitching and solid defense by Anna Cheyette and Sarah Tiffin ended the inning. Things got exciting in the third with a RBI single by Anna, and Megan adding an RBI with a double. Sydnie Hersh struck out two batters in the third, and got helped out by a nice fielding by Sierra Lee with a throw to Coco Martinelli for the third out. Solid defense in the fourth kept the game close with Claire Simpson fielding a grounder along the first base line to end the inning.
In the fifth inning Claire got a big hit for an RBI, but was out trying
to stealing second. In the bottom of the inning, Lena held the
Dynamite scoreless and then the Ghostbusters offense had a great hit to
left by Sarah, scoring two runners. The game ended with Lena striking
out two more batters, and Anna fielding a tough grounder and tagging
the runner out. Friedman-Brueggemeyer Aftershock 12, San Marco Bruisers 10
In the first inning, Hannah Feiner, Emma Kneasy, and Lena Mayer each stole home for the Aftershock. The Bruisers Roma Nawy threw out an Aftershock runner trying to steal second after being walked. Maggie Gallagher caught a pop-up and threw to Faith Valdez at third for a double play. In the bottom of the first, Faith, Roma, and Maggie each stole home for the Bruisers. In the second, Annie Ward walked and scored on a single by Faith, who was thrown out by Aftershock.s Catey Hoehn trying to stretch it to a double. For the Bruisers, Imani Hiller-Bateau pitched two strong innings, striking out three. Maggie laid down a nice bunt in the third and Roma leapt to catch a line drive to short in the fifth. For the Aftershock, Megan Foley drove in runs in the third and fourth with strong base hits, and Lena had two RBIs including a double in the fifth. INTERLEAGUE GAME Strategic Economics Fresh 16, Piedmont Rays 5 In
their only Interleague Game of the season, the Strategic Economics
Fresh displayed an amazing range of skills against the Piedmont Rays.
Starting pitcher Lila Jansen dominated by striking out 5 batters in 2 innings, and also added to the Fresh firepower by driving in two runs. Amoni Lauderdale also tallied 3 RBIs, including a rocket past the Rays. shortstop that was too hot to handle. Emma Gadberry
showed off her speed with an exciting steal of home, with a well-timed
slide under the tag. Home plate was also the setting for top notch
catching by Talia Rossi, Rosa Rossi-Goldthorpe, and Nora Killian, who showed off her agilityby chasing down a wild pitch and tagging the runner attempting to steal home. |
